IHL’s Retail AI Forecast Model is a forecast model for the impact of Traditional AI/ML, Generative AI, and Artificial General Intelligence for the Retail and Hospitality markets from 2022 – 2029.  We forecast the economic impact in great detail, including the following breakouts:

We leveraged our WorldView IT Sizing Forecast model as a base to pick the technology categories and segments. So, the AI impact categories match to a corresponding spend category that we use in the WorldView Model.

At the top level we started with overall retail sales by segment by region of the world, including average gross margins by segments and SG&A spend by segments. We also leveraged known data on number of retailers by size and segment from our SMB product.

From this we built the base model. From there we used traditional AI installs and other categories to determine Generative AI impact and any potential Artificial General Intelligence impact.

Then we looked at the impact to sales, gross margins and SG&A impact for each of these technologies.

In total, at the most detailed we look at over 120 categories and weighted by potential AI impact to lower costs.
